O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer’s praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of His grace!
Much has been written on the topic of worship throughout the ages. Indeed, we have so much wisdom to draw from to draw from our brothers and sisters in Christ who have gone before us and who are still helping us think about worship today - including Christ himself, the apostles, the early church, theologians, hymn-writers, pastors and ministers. I don't claim to have any unique insight nor authority, so it is unlikely that you will find any new knowledge on this topic from me.
I'm a Christian and have served in music ministry at a local church here in Melbourne, Australia as a musician, songleader and involved in organising such a ministry for a while now. Our church has deep roots in tradition, yet we strive to be relevant and contemporary while nodding to tradition, as a lot of churches are today.
I thought I would share some thoughts and experience from both myself and our ministry through this blog, on what ordinary servants of the gospel like us at a local church strive to do. I'd also like to share some resources and references that is useful and worth noting. It is the aim of this blog to start a conversation around how we can be encouraged to worship our great God and King, of the Lord Jesus with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind and with all our strength.
